Teaching Practice
Inaya with the teaching process
A. Procedures of Teaching
- Greeting, asking how students are doing, and checking student attendance.
- Opening the classroom by motivating students to learn by singing and dancing together.
- Review the previous material by asking a few simple questions, as well as explaining the material that will be studied that day using simple sentences.
- Providing learning through videos, presentation images, and several explanatory sentences directly to strengthen the concept of the learning material taught to students. In the middle of learning, the teacher also answered several questions from students who were spontaneously asked directly.
- Playing games in the form of games for students, so that they can measure the extent of students' understanding of the material, both individually and in groups.
- The teacher summarizes the learning material taught today, and gives motivational sentences and gives praise so that students feel always encouraged to learn
- The teacher closes the learning by singing and dancing together and giving greetings.
B. Time Management and Organizing Activity
- 5-minute opening activity (including singing and dancing together)
- 10-minute presentation of material
- Playing games for 20 minutes
- Closing activity for 5 minutes (providing motivation, encouragement and singing together)
During the process of playing games to learn, I always monitor them to focus on doing what has been directed. I give them a chance to think and ask questions before starting and working on the game. In the process of playing games, I try to calm students to work wisely and carefully without feeling competitive with other friends, guiding them one by one, and giving praise and encouragement to be able to complete it well and without wasting any time. If some of them have not answered correctly, my task is to correct and explain the correct answer without making students feel cornered and feel wrong, so as not to cause fear in the future.
C. Problem Solving
D. Classroom Management
Before maximizing the learning process so that it takes place effectively and efficiently, the teacher's task is to be able to know and understand the classroom situation and student conditions.
- Make preparations. As a teacher who wants to teach in the classroom, it is supposed to prepare various needs ranging from learning media, learning materials, learning methods, learning models, and evaluations that will be used for students. This preparation is very important so that the learning process takes place in an orderly and smooth manner, as well as systematically.
- Before starting the learning process, it's a good idea to be able to ask about the students' news and feelings first, try to attract their attention, and encourage students' enthusiasm and motivation to learn. There are many ways I do it, namely by giving touch to each student, and walking close to all of them. In addition, we can also make class rules simple and easy for students to understand.
- Must understand the situation and condition of the student. There are times when students feel bored in class so they don't pay attention to the teacher, and their friends who are doing assignments (in the form of games) in front. Therefore, the steps that can be taken are to still involve other students, namely asking for their opinions, estimating answers, and supporting their friends to complete well. I always do this so that they stay relaxed and focused on the material presented.
- Always provide opportunities to ask and answer questions. For example, I always ask them which parts they want to know more deeply, as well as ask them some things about something related to the material they want to teach. Usually I will ask about things related to their daily lives, because it will be more realistic for students.
- Providing interesting evaluations in the form of games, but still according to the objectives in the learning process plan. For example, I give them an evaluation in the form of Wordwall games, and drawing paper to know for sure whether they understand the material being taught or not.
Lastly, I always give appreciation when they have completed what I am directing by applauding or giving words of praise and motivation for the students, and the gift of stickers that I brought from Indonesia.
